| Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies CCSS offers a unique and individual approach to learning, building a relationship of mutual respect between students and staff and developing self-confidence within each student. |
General We have 210 students aged from 15 to 21. Half of them stay in our boarding accommodation and the other half are day students. CCSS is a happy, purposeful and vibrant place with a wide range of sporting, cultural and social activities available. The College is based in the exciting university town of Cambridge, close to the railway station and 50-minutes’ train-ride from London, with easy connections to international airports. Our courses There is a choice from more than 30 subjects on the A-level course.
Teaching Classes at CCSS are less than half the average for the independent sector in the UK and much smaller than in state schools. The average class size at CCSS is five pupils so everyone gets the attention they need. |
As well as group classes, all A-level students have additional ‘one-to-one’ sessions in each subject. These tutorials allow students and teachers to work together on areas of uncertainty or interest, analysing examination questions and discussing outstanding answers and the strategy for creating these answers. Preparation for university The success of the CCSS students means that the great majority go on to university in the UK or elsewhere, with many enjoying success at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE and other top universities in subjects ranging from international business to law and medicine. |
