A WORD FROM THE HEAD

People ask what makes us proud of Wellington? Quite simply, it's seeing the development of each student's individual qualities, and the easy relationship and respect that exists between staff and pupils within the School. This, in turn, encourages the best to emerge.

Wellington School has enjoyed another excellent year in 2007.  At GCSE, 36 of the 118 pupils gained at least 9 *A/A passes each while at A level, 40% of grades were at A grade and 20 of the 88 candidates achieved either 3, 4 or even 5 straight As.  Nearly all of this year’s Upper Sixth leavers will be entering their first-choice university, pleased and proud that they have gained the required grades to take the next step towards their future careers. .

The School's outstanding facilities have been enhanced even further with the completion of the new £2.6m Sports Complex. Opened by the Princess Royal and widely regarded as being amongst the best in the country, this complex not only provides superb sports facilities for all ages within the school but will also be used by the local community. 2007 will see major refurbishments and building for music, drama and additional classrooms

In the midst of such change and high achievement, the fundamental aims and ethos of the 800 pupil school remain the same as they always have been; namely, that each and every child should be helped and encouraged to develop his or her own particular talents to the full.

Traditional values of hard work, good behaviour and unpretentious manners are held in high esteem, complemented by the total commitment of the staff to the individual needs, personal welfare and happiness of every single child.

In the words of one of our current Upper Sixth Formers: 'Wellington School has made a huge impact on my life and has given me so many new and interesting opportunities. The School's ambitious attitudes towards success are reflected in each and every pupil.'
